So just picked up a 1.6 with 80k or so on it an just wanna throw small turbo on it. Question I have are: What should I replace on the new engine to handle boost/replace befor putting or back in? How much boost should i push, with trying to keep the coast low? An what should I defiantly upgrade on the motor?
Thanks in advance for the help, also keep in mind trying to keep this on a very cheap budget just looking for a little more hp not monster numbers

make sure standard maintenance is all up to date. seals, gaskets, and shit like that. make sure there are no leaks before boost. i think a common snail is the 2554 on a stock block.

piecing together your own kit will certainly be cheaper. i'll wait for someone else to chime in who has more experience about this than me.

Hi! I made my own kit! Way cheaper especially if you are decent at fabricating things, ie; exhaust, intercooler piping, and I went with a t25 Garrett turbo, freshened up an old motor I had with all new gaskets ad seals, cosmetic mod head gasket and arp head studs, stock oil pump, do your timing belt and waterpp while engine is out and for oil return you will have to drill and tap the pan or weld a bung in! Make sure you go with an aftermarket ecu ad get a good tune and you will be set! Oh and I'm running 7psi btw! With a good tune these engines can handle boost! Make sure you had a wideband aswell!

Yeah so while the engines out gonna get it ready for boost how much boost is to much on stock parts an should I put a high volume oil pump in? An how many cc injector should I run for max boost?

I used stock oil pump, it will flow enough, I find it does anyway, I'm running 350cc injectors, they're small but they work, lots of guys run 440 rx8 injectors or 460? Rx7 injectors from a tII

your stock oil pump will be fine for small goals. if you really want to upgrade the pump, check out boundary engineering's site.
