Looking at getting into drifting using my mx5 and was wondering if anyone had a set up or something that worked well for them when it came to sliding round a corner Currently only have a welded diff and stock wheels (which I've been told are ideal by the lovely people on this forum!) and pollybushes all round. Any thing else I need as well as a big open area and practise? Aha Thanks!

Great thread idea! What particular aspect of set-up are you interested in learning about right now?

Probably steering angle and power! I'm aware mx5's aren't the most powerful things so is there anyway to squize a bit more horses out my 1.6 with out turbo/supercharging etc.? Also my friend who's also into drifting drives a stage 3 s13 and has crazy steering angle, any way mx5's can get a bit more angle? Thanks!

I take it you have these on your car? Do they help a lot? And are they easy to fit?

Removing the nuts on the stock tie rod ends would probably work, I gotta go try that.

Also does it have to be aftermarket s13/FC outer tie rod ends or can it be the standard ones off of one of those? Thanks

I want to be humble but they change the whole way the car slides if you know how to SWANG! I look forward to your order, we've got PLENTY for now! Also does it have to be aftermarket s13/FC outer tie rod ends or can it be the standard ones off of one of those? Thanks Not sure, just need something that's shorter than stock. Like I said, I'm going to try putting my stock tie rod ends back on and removing the nuts next week and seeing how close I can get it.

agreed with Boss on this one the steering angle spacers help a huge amount!! easy to install, if you want to reduce bumpsteer i would go with the megan fc outer tie rods! welded diff, if your so inclined install a hydro e brake, if not make sure your rear brake calipers move freely, good pads (not glazed), good rotors (again not new, but not overheated and glazed over) tighten the ebrake up a bit and that will make for easy entries, learn to flick the car lol, no speed means you have to find other ways to enter and the scandanavian flick is a good way! also make sure your alignment is good, if you wanna setup for drifting, front - camber and lots of + caster makes for great steering wheel returnability, aswell go -.1 toe out is what i run.
